Since when is the FDA an authority on ?
As a New Zealander I am confused by the suggestion that the FDA has anything to do with Naturopathy or Alternative therapies. It’s stance is that of conventional science, which is usually diametrically opposed to Alternative health initiatives. Don’t you think that modern science is so linked with big money-making that it cannot be unbiased and truly “scientific” anymore?

As a business owner of a supplement company and a practitioner of alternative therapy (Health Kinesiology), in the USA, I can say that my experience with the FDA is that they promote themselves as being the authority for the people. Unfortunately people unknowingly believe that it is so, even when they have no juristiction. Part of the problem lies in the fact that there are many “quacky” practitioners out there making claims that are outrageous. I do agree that the FDA and big Pharma are sleeping together and therefore want to keep each other happy, and certainly pharma can’t be happy if people are seeking natural resources rather than pumping themselves with costly drugs. It is interesting how the world will hear about 1 or 2 cases where someone has been injured by an herb or therapy, but you don’t get to hear about the 100,000′s effected (or even die) from side effects from drugs that are supposed to help you. I do not think that it is unbiased anymore.
